As a mom peeled off her blindfold, she saw that her daughters had surprised her with a skydive for her 70th birthday.
Crystal Wilson, from Vermont, visits her mother, Bev Cook, in Mesa, Arizona, a few times a year to catch up and try out different adventurous activities.
Bev has been desperate to skydive after Crystal and her son went skydiving in 2017.
Crystal’s mom’s 70th birthday was just around the corner, so she decided to surprise Bev with a skydiving experience.
Bev’s family wrote small notes to her to get her excited for her surprise throughout the days leading up to her birthday.
The day of the jump, Bev’s 70th birthday, Crystal got her mom into the car and gave her two gifts.
There were two gifts: one contained the final note asking her, ‘Are you ready?’ and the other was a blindfold that she was to wear during the journey.
I was in awe of her excitement.
“I have a hard time keeping gifts a secret from people I buy or surprise them with, so it was hard to keep her birthday a secret for over a week, but I’m glad I did, because I wanted to make her day special.
“She is always doing things for others even when she is not in a position to do so.
She loves unconditionally and wears her heart on her sleeve. She deserves everything she wants.”
Her mom is braver than me. I just can’t see the point of jumping out of a perfectly good air plane that I wouldn’t be in in the first place. I have a fear of heights, so nope, no go.
