Heart-Melting Moment When A Man Gave His Shirt To A Homeless, Shivering Man

A cheerful, feel-good story can sometimes lift our spirits. Although the narrative is ancient, the spirit of why it is so wonderful survives! Homeless and less fortunate stories are heartbreaking. There will be tears in your eyes when you hear this story! It’s comforting to k now that there are decent, real people out there, especially in a world where we frequently feel there’s no hope. Homeless in New York City

Before we get into the story, let’s examine a few facts that might surprise you. Did you know that approximately one out of every 106 individuals in New York is homeless? There are approximately 80,000 people without a house in New York, given the city’s population of 8.3 million people. Approximately 4,000 people spend their evenings on the streets and subways of the city every night. According to Bowery, there are 20 people sleeping in shelters for every person sleeping on the street or on trains.

Joey Resto, who was 23 at the time, rode the train home one day after work. He saw a man shivering without a shirt in the 45-degree cold. Joey decided to do the right thing and stripped off his clothes to give to the homeless man.

“He looked cold and hungry, like he had been beaten.” He looked feeble and emaciated. It was only natural for me to want to help and do what I could. This came from the bottom of my heart. I don’t understand how someone could walk past him with extra clothing and not offer it to him.”

Joey describes how the man did not speak to him, but rather accepted his clothes when they were presented to him. Joey also assisted with the man’s shirt fitting. Lazaro Nolasco, who recorded the act of compassion that day, had over 13 million views when the video was posted.

I told him after the first film that I couldn’t just sit here and do nothing, but he didn’t really answer. He just kind of lifted his arms like a child.” He seemed as though he was feeling warm for the first time in a very long time. “He curled up in a corner and slept off.”
