The spotlight isn’t for everyone, but for those who are, sharing it can be difficult.
In trying to film a video for TikTok, @maura.music user Maura Navarrete discovered this very trait in her cat.
She was in the middle of filming herself singing Enrique Granados’s “El Majo Discreto” when her furry friend jumped into the frame unexpectedly. As a result of the intrusion, she turned off the music. Navarrete’s cat Maximino, facing straight at the camera with its eyes wide with focus, had begun “singing” where Navarrete left off. Initially stunned by Maximino’s newfound skill, Navarrete burst into laughter before turning on the music again.
More than 1.5 million people liked the viral video of the kitty’s operatic prowess. In spite of Maximino’s mewling, Navarrete settled for second place, captioning the clip, “What a legend.”. #OperaCat #OperaSinger #catsoftiktok #bestsinger #talent #musictok.”
The video was taken in 2015, and Navarrete decided to upload it after finding it on her phone.
“It made my day to see so many people react and post such sweet comments,” she said, adding, “It made me happy to share smiles with others.”
Maximino was described as a very vocal kitten by her.
She explained, “He loves music, and the only way I can get him to follow me is by whistling his favorite tunes.”
Maximino isn’t the only member of the family who loves music.

After completing college, Navarette had just finished her first year of work as a middle school choir teacher. Her heart was electrically disconnected due to a third-degree heart block, according to a GoFundMe campaign.
It wasn’t until she was 24 years old that she needed a pacemaker surgically implanted. To help pay off her medical bills, Navarrete set up a GoFundMe page with a $19,444 goal.
In spite of the medical setback, Navarrete posts more videos of Maximino practicing his singing with her help.
Maximino’s talent impressed viewers, who praised him for giving it his all.
A user wrote, “He’s really putting his little soul into it omg,” and another said, “he’s like, ‘move over, I’ll show you how it’s done.'”
I don’t know what you’re auditioning for, but both of you got the part. A user commented, “He said WE are making it to Juilliard,” to which Navarrete replied, “Take us both or neither.”
Maximino and his cat mom were encouraged by others to reach for the stars. Maximino’s confidence was praised by many, who said he “straight upstaged” Navarrete. She’s such a diva. One comment read, “He’s like you can shine when I’m done … I’m done.”.
She posted a video announcing she would be auditioning virtually for “American Idol” before giving viewers a taste of what she would be singing. We look forward to seeing more of Navarrete and Maximino in the future!
