Woman Used Five 20-Foot Shipping Containers To Build Extraordinary Off-The-Grid Home

A woman has built an incredible tiny house with just a few cargo containers. Fans of tiny houses will be blown away. She lives off the grid, savoring everything that nature has to offer.

Five 20-foot shipping containers form the one-of-a-kind residence in New Zealand. The house is quite lovely, if I may say so myself.

Rosie, the owner of the off-grid home, lives on a 23-acre plot of land in Coromandel, New Zealand. The land belongs to a private individual.

Rather than build a traditional cottage in the woods, she built an off-the-grid home out of five 20-foot shipping containers.

Rose named the house Ahurewa, which means “holy spot.”

The house isn’t just a sacred place. The natural surroundings surround it on all sides. There are no houses nearby.

She chose the spot because she would be able to see the sunrise and sunset from there. She is clearly capable of appreciating nature in all of its splendor.

The house was built so that Rosie could live as sustainably as possible. The rare opportunity to be surrounded by nature on all sides is valuable to her.

The residence uses 12 solar panels to generate the 4kW of electricity it needs, making it environmentally friendly. When the sun isn’t shining, she has backup batteries and a power inverter.

In the residence, there is also a vermicomposting toilet and two 2,500-liter water tanks, which direct water waste to the composting toilets, where it is reclaimed.

Rosie plants are edible and medicinal. Additionally, she maintains a natural garden where she cultivates native plants.

There is a charming little fireplace that also serves as a backup stove when the main stove breaks down.

With floor-to-ceiling windows in nearly every room, the off-grid home is bright and airy. The large windows provide ample light and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Aside from the large kitchen, there is also a wonderful library, a modest but lovely bathroom, and a large bedroom that can accommodate a king-size bed. Most notable about the bedroom, however, are the stunning views provided by the windows.

An outdoor patio at the front of the house must be a lovely place to watch the sun rise in the morning.

There’s also a lovely backyard and garden area at the home, which makes it a great place to relax. There’s also a heater in the house, so you can enjoy being outside even when it’s cold outside.

Therefore, if you’re interested in off-grid living, you should definitely check out the Living Big In A Tiny House YouTube video above to learn more about this home. You will not be dissatisfied.
