In a refreshing change from the constant stream of bad news, Helen Lupton’s touching Facebook post has inspired many, highlighting the kindness and generosity of people.
Helen and her son Blake visited the Pleasureland Amusements arcade in Whitby, Yorkshire, for a day filled with laughter and joy. However, upon returning home, they realized that Blake’s beloved purple sloth toy, Slothy, had been left behind.
Distraught, Helen contacted the arcade, hoping to locate the lost toy. Unfortunately, the staff informed her that nothing had been turned in to lost and found. Blake was heartbroken, feeling all hope was lost.

Determined to set things right, Helen searched for a replacement toy but couldn’t find one. Then, unexpectedly, she received a message from Pleasureland Amusements. Slothy had been found!
Helen joyfully shared the news with Blake, whose face lit up with happiness. She asked the staff if they could mail Slothy back since they were not local. The staff gladly agreed, and a few days later, a parcel arrived.

Inside the package were several heartwarming surprises. Alongside Slothy were three packages of candy and two new toys. A touching note explained, “We thought Pablo (as we called him before knowing he was Slothy) might get scared during his journey, so we sent him with a friend and some snacks to share when he got back home safe and sound. We also included a fidget pop to keep him from getting bored. We hope Pablo, alias Slothy, remains safe in the future.”
Helen shared photos on Facebook, expressing her gratitude for the care and consideration shown by the Pleasureland staff. She praised their kindness and encouraged others to visit the Whitby arcade.
The story quickly gained attention, garnering hundreds of comments and emotional reactions. Many people were moved to tears, and the Pleasureland staff received widespread appreciation, with one reader awarding them “five gold stars.”
This endearing story is a powerful reminder that goodness still exists in the world, even in challenging times. Stories like these restore our faith in humanity and give us hope for the future.
