After they arrived, the family’s day completely turned around.
Every parent wants their child to have a wonderful birthday. In hopes that everything will go according to plan, we move heaven and earth to make it happen.
Even on the most special days, things can go wrong.
A Charlotte, North Carolina mom wanted to make her son’s birthday memorable by getting him a kiddie pool.
Swimming seemed like the perfect activity for the hot weather.
Filling the kiddie pool was the next step after the mom placed it in their yard.
Because she didn’t have a hose, she had to fill it up with pots.
Whenever she filled up a pot, she would bring it out and dump it in the pool. There would be a lot of pots and a lot of time involved.
Meanwhile, her children watched and waited. They weren’t sure if they would be able to swim that day.
Poor mom kept trying to fill up the pool. That’s when a firetruck drove by.
Firefighters felt bad when they saw what the woman was doing. On such a sweltering hot day, they knew it would take her a long time to fill up the pool that way. As a result, they decided to help.
To fill up the small pool, they grabbed the hose from the truck.
Kids were jumping with joy and excitement about the pool. She couldn’t believe it. Her relief and gratitude were overwhelming. It was no longer necessary for her to fill up any more pots or worry about whether her son’s birthday party would turn out as she had hoped.
Charlotte Fire Station 18 posted about the incident.

Firefighters were very proud of their officials. According to the post:
“Firehouse 18 is a neighborhood firehouse full of people who care about the families they protect. During a medical call today, Engine 18 encountered a family desperately trying to fill up a kiddy pool by filling pots from the sink for a little boy’s birthday.”
It continued:
A simple task for us turned into laughter, smiles, and a lifelong memory for the neighborhood kids and Engine 18 men? I am proud to serve the WESTSIDE! ”
Firefighters didn’t have to stop and take time out of their day to help this woman fill up her pool. However, they did so out of kindness.
A problem was identified and a solution was found. It was their choice to help someone in need. Their amazing character really shines through.
People read the post and saw what these firefighters did for a local family.
The post also received many comments.

One small act of kindness turned a boy’s birthday around. There is no doubt that the family will never forget it.
Each of us should be inspired to lend a hand when we see one needed. It doesn’t matter whether it’s feeding someone who’s hungry or filling a kiddie pool with water – kindness can always make a difference.
I would appreciate it if you shared this with your family and friends.
