Imagine discovering that your long-lost family member-your half-sister-is your dear colleague.
Cheryl Becker and Linda Rinaldi had the same thought, believe it or not!
Cheryl Becker is 68 years old, while Linda Rinaldi is 69.
Three decades ago, they met while working at a hospital in Connecticut.
Both women felt that they were related in some way and that they shared a special bond.
According to Rinaldi:
“She is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.”
Even though they met three decades ago, Rinaldi moved away, and they lost touch.
As Cheryl’s husband, Ralph developed an interest in genealogy and lineage, everything changed.
According to Cheryl, this curiosity was a blessing. She looked up one of the DNA websites after being given a DNA test as a gift.
Her DNA tests revealed that she is not half-French, half-Italian as she believed.
According to her:
I explained, “It said I was from the British Isles.”. But it didn’t state I was fully Irish. But it didn’t mention my ethnicity, and that’s all I knew.”
Her findings made her feel as though she had been living a lie for most of her life. She stared into the glass, stunned, asking herself, ‘Who am I?’
Even worse, the man who raised her was not her biological father.
Later, she said:
“I don’t believe he knew about it.”
Pandemonium surrounded her. She was bewildered.
Genealogy tests, on the other hand, gave the suspected half-sisters some hope.
Particularly, the results showed that she was linked to Linda Rinaldo.
At this point, she could tell it was the same person because she used to work with her.
‘Close relatives or first cousins’ was all that was written in the outcome.
According to Rinaldi:
Her only statement was that we were related. ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if we were sisters?’ I joked. “I know you’re my sister,” she replied.
Linda remarked that she had never expected to meet someone who had the same sense of humor as her.
However, the DNA test confirmed their suspicions: they were half-sisters!
Their ages were only 16 months apart.
Cheryl Beckers describes Linda as a “blessing from above” because she helped her recognize a sister’s talent.
“It was the fact that she welcomed me with open arms.” She had just greeted me. That was my turning point.”
Sisters who have been missing for a long time now have all the time in the world to make up for lost time.
Becker added that they had lost the previous 30 years, but had gained the future 30.
“We create memories like sisters.” “A difficult situation became a lovely one.”
