Young Man Walks 20 Miles To Get To His New Job- The Company’s CEO Gives Him A New Car

Walter’s car broke down the night before his first shift, but he didn’t let that stop him.

Walter Carr, a young man who refused to let anything stand in his way of a good first day at his new job, is yet another example of how hard work and determination pay off.

Bellhops, a moving company, hired Walter to work for them. He was excited about starting a new chapter in his life, but his car broke down the night before he was supposed to start. To ensure he wouldn’t miss his first day on the job, he walked from his hometown of Homewood to Pelham, a distance of 20 miles.

At 12 a.m., he began his trek, expecting to arrive on time.

Several hours into his walk, Walter encountered an officer who asked about his destination. As the young man explained what was happening, the officer was shocked by what he heard. He then offered Walter a ride to the residence where he was supposed to work that day.

Walter and the officer knocked on the Lamey family’s door at 6:30 a.m. Jennifer Hayden Lamey answered the door. He explained that he brought her “this nice child” to assist her in moving her staff. She had expected the moving company to arrive several hours later, so she was surprised when Walter showed up so quickly. She was also surprised by his tenacity.

“Around 6:30 a.m., the doorbell rang. It was the police. Afterward, he stated that he had picked up ‘this nice youngster’ early this morning in Pelham. She was a sweetheart. Jenny commented on Facebook that Walter was supposed to help us move today.

Walter was thanked for his presence by one of the movers when the rest of the movers arrived. Jenny concluded few of the new recruits would show up. Jenny said to the man in charge of the crew, “You wouldn’t believe what he did to get here.”. Walter modestly replied, “I walked.”

All of the team members were speechless. Luke Marklin, the company’s CEO, offered Walter his 2014 Ford Escape without hesitation after they told him about the incident.

“I would like to give you this car right now.” Today. For example, right now. Marklin told him, “You can drive away with it.”

When he heard what he did, Walter couldn’t believe his ears. With the present, he would no longer have to walk such long distances.

For example, Marklin was pleased to be able to help someone with such a strong work ethic as young Walter.
