There are many talented dancers on the internet, covering styles like ballroom, tap, street, and even morris dancing. However, some performances still manage to stand out and surprise us. One such performance is by Lauren and Kaylee Thomas, two championship-winning clog dancers. If you’re unfamiliar with clogging, the Ridge Runner Cloggers describe it as “an energetic percussive style of dance where the dancer wears shoes with special taps.”

Clog dancing is quite popular, and if this is your first time hearing about it, you should definitely watch Lauren and Kaylee in action. The video below was filmed at the 2016 Clogging Champions of America Showdown of Champions.
In the video, the girls are competing in the contemporary part of the competition, although they also participated in the traditional round. It’s a duet dance-off, and these two are simply amazing!
At first glance, you might think they are twins, but actually, Kaylee is two years older than Lauren. Both girls are blonde, adorable, and wear matching outfits when they perform, so it’s easy to mistake them for twins. But one thing they definitely have in common is their incredibly fast footwork!
The video starts with six pairs of dancers lined up on stage, ready for their dance-off. Lauren and Kaylee are front and center, dressed in black tops and sparkly pants, putting on a fantastic show. Even though there are other dancers on stage, Lauren and Kaylee steal the spotlight with their perfectly synchronized moves. Their routine is full of kicks, spins, and complex arm movements, all performed with boundless energy.
It’s no surprise that this isn’t the girls’ first competition. They’ve won national championships an incredible 15 times! Despite their young age, they’ve been competing for years. Lauren started clogging at just three years old, and Kaylee began when she was five. Both were born in Berea, Kentucky, and quickly proved they had a talent for clogging, winning local competitions before moving on to national ones.
Although clogging exists in other countries, this particular style is unique to the United States, so it’s unlikely the girls will compete internationally. But that may be for the best, as it gives them time to focus on school and take a break from their busy schedules.
The girls have even appeared on TV shows like Nickelodeon’s Figure It Out and an updated version of The Gong Show. It’s quite the career for two young girls! Many siblings wouldn’t get along well enough to train together so much, but Lauren and Kaylee share a strong sisterly bond and a love for dancing that keeps them united.
As they grow older, their lives may go in different directions, but their shared dance experiences will likely keep them close.
