Her boss fired her because her son was on life support: “There’s no reason why you can’t work”
An upset mom revealed the shocking text messages she and her boss exchanged after she told her boss her son was on life support and that she wouldn’t be able to make it to work.
After CF, of Albion, Michigan, told her manager (HM) she was unable to work one day because her son was ill, she was fired from her gas station job.
Her son, Jason (18) has a potentially life-threatening sepsis - forcing the devastated mother to take her Saturday shift off at a PS Food Mart, Metro reported.
Her manager, whom she identified as HM, received a text from her on Saturday informing her that she would not be able to make it to work until the condition of her son improved. CF said she was shocked by what happened next.
She wrote, “I just wanted to let you know that my son remains on life support.”. Until he is better, I will not be able to come to work. I’ll let you know as soon as he gets better, so I can return to work without any problems.”
“That’s not how we do things, so I will accept your resignation.” Her manager replied.
Reynold’s reply sparked a back-and-forth between the two, which he posted to social media, the post has since gone viral.
Her superior’s at PS Foodmart corporate also saw the post, and immediately reacted by firing the manager in question and allowing Reynold’s to keep her job.
