With each passing day, the instructor chatted with the 4-year-old as his depression worsened. Ma’am, are you sure?!?””” When he finally told her what was going on, she called the hospital. The teacher’s actions…
What would you do to make someone else happy? There are some people with such big hearts that they go out of their way to help others. Nancy Bleuer, a 54-year-old Iowa teacher, is one of them.
She is a kind and caring person who sincerely cares about her children. In addition to making sure all of the children in her class are learning, she also watches out for their safety. She noticed that 4-year-old Camden was depressed one day. Seeing he was concerned about something, she approached him to find out what it was. Camden then informed her that her father was critically ill. In order to find out what was happening at home, Nancy called the family. The news that Camden’s father had kidney problems broke her heart. Since they were barely running at 20% capacity, he was in agonizing discomfort after every dialysis session.
Nancy pondered how she could help the family. Initially, she considered assisting Camden and, if necessary, caring for him after school. She soon realized, however, that d.o.n.a.t.i.n.g one of her k.i.d.n.e.y.s to the father, Darreld Petersen, 34, was the best choice. Nancy was taken to the hospital and had a battery of tests to determine whether she was a match when she was sure she was doing the right thing. She turned out to be the perfect match for him. Nancy told ABC News that she was quite pleased with the outcome. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t been matched.”
Camden and his father were shocked to learn that he was getting the much-anticipated organ. She had given them the most precious gift of all: life.
“People are waiting for a kidney, or an organ in general, every day,” Petersen added. “I wish there were more people like her in the world.” She gave me a second chance.”
