A toddler has melted hearts across TikTok after his mom shared a video of him packing his bags before bed in anticipation of visiting his dad in ‘heaven’ the next day.
Ashley, the little boy’s mom, posted on her TikTok account about the conversation she had with her son about his plans to see his dad, who passed away suddenly in 2020, leaving behind two kids. Over four million people viewed the video.
“Mum, I have a big trip tomorrow. Can you put my bag out for me?”. I’m going to heaven so don’t peak, just have it ready for me,” the little boy told his mum as he handed her a ready packed Spiderman bag before going to sleep.
As seen in the video, the US mother asks him to forgive her because she needed to “break that promise” by opening the bag to find he was packing to visit his father.
She begins to unpack the bag to see what her son wanted to take with him. There was an all-important superhero outfit at the top: “Assuming he’s saving the world from heaven,” her mother said.
She then pulls out a whistle and his new baseball gloves, which he is obsessed with.
However, when she pulls out the next item, the mum breaks down in front of the camera.
He packed his father’s old wallet, which the family still keeps intact with family photos inside. He also packed the new wallet his father had been given for Christmas the year before he died.
He also packed his father’s cologne. She pulls it out of the bag and smells it to remember the scent her late husband used to wear.
Ashley holds back tears when explaining how much these items mean to her and how sweet her son is to pack them with him.
“The craziest part is when they would go on fishing trips, they would bring me flowers they picked back, and I bet tomorrow he will do the same.”
In addition to the millions of viewers in tears, many people left their comments:
I just want to hug both of you! Crying like a baby!” Another said, “You son so deserves that visit. It made this 40-year-old cry. Protect his heart”, one woman said.
Ashley has been overwhelmed by the amount of support she has received after posting the video, “I never in a million years expected this to go viral.”
Following that, she uploaded another video thanking all of her followers and thanking the platform for allowing her to share her story: “I met a lot of grieving widows who had no idea that they had saved my life.”
Ashley informed her followers that her husband would have turned 37 this month by posting a video on Facebook with the message “Raising them without you isn’t the same.”. Have a great birthday in heaven!”””
