A Starbucks barista got the surprise of his life when he was selected as the recipient of a random act of kindness by a TikToker.
She pulls up through a Starbucks drive-thru with a companion in the popular TikTok video, which has racked up over 40.6 million views as of this writing. However, she asked the person at the window, “What is your dream in life?” instead of taking their orders.
Barista Manny said he was looking to buy a car for himself. Perri asked him how much getting one would cost, and he replied, “$1,000.”
What is the issue you are having? Manny opened up after Perri questioned him. He acknowledged that he was depressed.
“I have depression right now,” he confessed.
We might see you around,” Perri said as she accelerated out of the parking lot.
Perri and her friend then go shopping for a toy car for Manny, a small wooden chest box, and a bouquet of red roses.
Upon returning to the car, Perri pulled out a $1,000 bill and placed it in the toy car’s box.
The video shows Perri saying, “We’re ready to surprise Manny with $1,000 so he can get a car.”. “I’m eager to see his reaction.”
Putting the toy vehicle inside the wooden trunk, she drove to the coffee shop.
When Perri came back to the window, she said to Manny, “We wanted to bring you something.”
To begin, she gave him a bunch of roses, which the Starbucks employee graciously accepted.
“Thank you very much. “I’ve never received flowers before,” he grinned.
He handed Perri the wooden trunk and said, “We have one more thing to do.”.
The toy vehicle and the money are inside the chest when Manny opens it.
Perri’s unplanned act of kindness moved Manny to tears: “It’s $1,000 for you to buy a new car,” she said.
Manny thanked her for the kind gift before continuing.
“I had suicidal thoughts this morning and didn’t feel like waking up,” he admitted.
Perri responded in a supportive and loving manner.
“This is just a sign from God that you’re supposed to be here. You are so loved.” “Light will once more shine on your face.”
A large number of TikTok users commented on the video in the comments section.
“You just saved someone’s life. Kindness is key.”
“From someone who has struggled with anxiety and despair. We understand your struggles. There will be brighter days.
Kindness is important because you never know what people are going through.
Charlie Rocket, the head of the nonprofit Dream Machine Foundation, helped Perri pull off the surprise. To assist Manny in purchasing a new car, the group gave him the first $1,000 as a donation before setting up a fundraiser.
It raised more than $38,572, exceeding its initial goal of $15,000.
The contribution website states that he takes the bus to work every day because he does not have the funds to purchase a car. “We began the donations by giving him $1,000, but we set a goal of raising $10,000 for him to buy a good car.”
