Although locals call it the “Pie House,” TikTok gave it a new nickname because one of its sides measures only three feet wide. It will surely amaze anyone who sees it for the first time!
TikTok user @eli.korn_ created a brief video tour of the exterior of the house and shared it on the platform.
He wrote “Skinny house skinny house skinny house” multiple times over the footage. Viewers were baffled by the home’s slim exterior and left with many unanswered questions.
“How do people live there?” one commented.
But…how do the stairs work? Is it just an entire corner? Do they spiral? It’s just a ladder, right?” another wrote.
Someone joked, “One gust of wind, and it’s all over.”.
The Pie House is not that skinny in its entirety. It sits on a 3,876-square-foot triangle lot that extends about 20 feet wide.
A typical house has two bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and a finished basement, but this exceptional house has over 1,600 square feet of living space.
According to Coldwell Banker Realty, it has “good natural light and lots of character.”.
On the video sharing platform, @eli.korn_ shared several follow-up videos showing the building’s exterior in more detail after his first post went viral.
The home was sold for $260,000 by Coldwell Banker Realty’s Alan Berlow. One of the bathrooms and storage are located at the skinny end of the house. In addition, he explained how the home earned its local nickname.
“It’s shaped like a pie. Furthermore, it is a ‘slice’ of history from Deerfield, an area on the famous North Shore of Chicago,” Berlow said.
According to the realtor, the original owners built the home on just 40 percent of the lot when they constructed it in 2003. In accordance with an ordinance in the Village of Deerfield, houses built in the area must leave enough space between them and the roadways.
The layout of the space and how it’s distributed throughout the house is certainly nontraditional, but it works. It was designed specifically for the size of the lot, and it’s far more functional than it appears,” he added.

The main level has hardwood floors and an open floor plan. Also included are a decent-sized bedroom, a modern kitchen, and a lovely living room.
There are great bathroom facilities, and the house maintains its classy, minimalist decor throughout.
Berlow says he isn’t surprised that The Pie House has been getting so much attention online.
“It’s a very well-known home in the community,” he said. As far as some of the viral videos on TikTok are concerned, it just shows the interest in real estate flows through all generations.
