Many children find going to school alone distressing, especially in the beginning when they are unfamiliar with this new chapter of their lives after being separated from their parents.
As Axel Johnson got ready to start school, he seemed ecstatic. His mother Amy snapped a picture of him waiting for the school bus, and he was all smiles.
His expression changed when it was time for him to board, however, and he was on the verge of crying. It was evident that tiny Axel wasn’t as strong as he thought he would be when he had to separate from his mother.
Axel’s face shifted from happy to sad as Isabel Lane, the bus driver, observed him, but she was determined to convince him that riding the bus and going to school with a lot of kids his age was not dangerous. Isabel put her hand behind Axel as he sat behind her, and he grabbed it. Amy managed to capture a very nice moment on camera.
Isabel demonstrated that she cared about the children’s happiness more than she cared about driving them. Even if his mother wasn’t with him on the bus, she wanted him to know he could always count on her. The terrified child was reassured by her demeanor.
She shared the photo of her son with the bus driver on Facebook because she thought it was so interesting. Her expectation was that people would like it, but she didn’t expect so many compliments.
Over 2,400 people liked the photo, even the local police department shared it.
The compliments Isabel received surprised her. She replied, “I didn’t think it was a big deal.” “I suppose this is something I’d do.”
However, that was a significant event. Axel was no longer afraid the next day because he knew Isabel was his friend. It was a new beginning for him, and he was all smiles.
As a result of Isabel, Axel now looks forward to every new day at school.
