A bride postponed her wedding after guests refused to pay the $1,500 she asked them to contribute.
Weddings can be beautiful but also very expensive. Many couples rely on their friends and family to help cover some of the costs. However, one bride, Susan from Canada, went further by charging her guests $1,500 each to attend her wedding.
When her guests refused to pay, Susan decided to cancel the wedding. She explained her decision on social media, which shocked many people.
One person commented, “If she truly loved him, she would have been happy with a smaller, more intimate wedding. She’s being selfish.”
Another added, “Guests are there to celebrate with you, not to pay for your wedding!”
Susan mentioned that her dream wedding would cost around $60,000, and since she couldn’t afford it, she asked her guests to help out by giving her $1,500 each. But most of the guests thought this was unfair, and when they refused, Susan canceled the wedding just four days before the big day.
In a Facebook post, Susan shared her frustration, saying that she and her fiancé had sacrificed a lot and only asked for a contribution to make their dream wedding come true. She said she made it clear that if someone couldn’t pay, they weren’t invited.
Her fiancé suggested a cheaper, simpler wedding instead, but Susan was not happy with the idea. She was upset and eventually decided to call off the wedding entirely.
Susan ended the relationship, upset that her friends and family didn’t help her achieve the “blowout” wedding she had dreamed of.
