We live in a divided world, and if you watch the news or read your Facebook feed for any length of time, you will find that people have a lot of negative things to say about each other. The situation has been the same for thousands of years and even though we are seeing small changes, they don’t seem to be enough. It’s better to hear something positive every now and then than to let negativity discourage you. This is one of those positive news stories that will restore your faith in humanity.
Following my appointment this morning to see our growing baby boy, my husband and I stopped by Walmart in Evans to pick up a few things. We noticed a woman who had passed out and fallen on the floor as we walked to the refrigerated section. As a registered nurse, my first instinct was to stop, assess, and assist. Although she had regained her orientation, she said she was on blood thinners and felt dizzy. Consequently, I stayed with her along with her daughter and Walmart personnel until the ambulance arrived and encouraged her to stay seated. The Walmart staff were wonderful. While we waited for the bus to arrive, they kept in touch with dispatch.
There was also Jason. I don’t know his last name, but he got down on the floor with this woman and supported her back so she could lean on him. He got on the floor to serve her, not because he was asked, he wasn’t, but because he wanted to.
Our country has been portrayed in the media lately as divided, filled with hate and racial tension, but this right here was just one human being loving and serving another without considering race or obligations.Another man stopped, kneeled down and prayed over this woman as we waited. Today, I experienced love, kindness, and service. Each and every one of us is a human being, regardless of the amount of pigmentation on our skin. I couldn’t resist sharing this because the media doesn’t seem to report this… the unity and the positive that occurs. This is real life, and this is what it’s all about, not hate.
Just beautiful.
