Brittany Reed was distressed when she realized she couldn’t pay for her food at McDonald’s. Wyatt Jones stepped in by paying for her food at that point. Brittany decided to give him a reward for his kindness.
If one cannot pay for one’s meal, whether due to a lack of funds or having forgotten one’s wallet at home, it is always a mortifying situation.
Brittany Reed was saved from that same situation at McDonald’s by an unlikely hero, whose selflessness will warm your heart.
Brittany left her wallet at home
Brittany writes a heartwarming story on her Facebook page. After her son’s football practice, she decided to stop by McDonald’s for a meal.
I told my 7-year-old daughter we were having red potatoes as a side for dinner, and she started crying sooo I threw my hands up and said FORGET IT – McDonald’s for dinner!
While her three children were crying, she placed her order at the drive-through, only to realize that she had forgotten her purse at home.
“I look at the young man with tears in my eyes from stress and irritation and tell him, “hun, I’m so sorry I have to cancel that order. “I forgot my purse at home when we went to the game tonight,” Brittany wrote.
Wyatt paid for her entire order without hesitation
When she was at the counter. Before Brittany could say anything else, he pulled out his wallet and swiped his credit card to pay for her order.
He is an amazing young man! In her Facebook post, Duncan wrote, “We hear so much about what’s wrong with the world, I had to share a little of what is right.”.
The shock of Brittany’s reaction was overwhelming. She then told him she would be right back to pay for her own order. “I was like, ‘no hun, I’m fine, I’ll come back through,'” Brittany said.
Brittany didn’t forget his kindness
Brittany praised Wyatt’s kindness in her post. “I just want his parents to know how kind and compassionate he was tonight,” she wrote.
As a stressed out momma, he made me realize that raising great humans is exactly what we are trying to do. Thank you Wyatt sir!
Although he refused to accept the additional amount, Brittany went back and gave him some cash, more than the amount of her order. Brittany decided to help him reach his goal after hearing he was saving for a car.
She set up a GoFundMe page, with a goal of $5000. Donations poured in for young Wyatt, and the goal was exceeded. To date, over $32 000 has been raised for him.
The small action Wyatt took was not a big deal to him
It was simply out of the kindness of his heart that he did something for someone in need,” said Wyatt’s father, Kevin Jones.
Even though his parents are incredibly grateful for the amazing reward, they are far more proud of how their son treated a stranger.
Knowing that they’re willing to help others when they’re out in the world makes you very proud.
There are many people struggling right now, and it’s a hard time for everyone. Moments like that, from people who really care, will make all the difference. We can learn a lot from that McDonald’s employee!
