It is well known that optical illusions can perplex people. This refers to photos that have been artificially enhanced with the aid of a computer. It doesn’t mean that paintings can’t be deceiving! Scientists are debating with the artist over one of these paintings!
In addition to its usual status as a viral internet sensation, this optical illusion has gained notoriety. That’s understandable, after all, if the original painter can’t provide a definitive explanation, who can?
The painting in question was created by Bev Doolittle. A group of five horses with spotty skin are shown on a snow-covered cliff. It has been a focal point of the NIEHS (National Institute of Environmental Services) website for a long time.
The Optical Illusion
From a distance, it appears that there are four mature brown and white horses, along with a small foal, standing close together. Their design resembles the contrast between the snowy background and the brown rock that protrudes from it in the artwork. As a result, it’s referred to as an optical illusion.
On the other hand, scientists claim that Doolittle’s picture has seven horses. Thus, even the designer lost out on two horses. Experts believe that the other two horses are half-horses with a head and a tail.
Can you find them in the image below? Don’t worry if you don’t see them right away. An optical illusion offers a solution, according to a NIEHS scientist:
“I see one on the left staring out, and four faces crowded near each other in the center – one’s brown nose (second from the left) covers the right part of the face of the one who is lowest in that group.” A horse stands sideways to the right, with the back of the seventh the one above it. “Unless I’m hallucinating.”
We still couldn’t find them, to tell you the truth. If you couldn’t figure it out, you’re not alone. The majority of viewers also missed the two horses. For reference, here are the five original horses:
We have to agree with the creator on this one. If you spot two more horses, let us know! It would be great if you could let us know. Don’t forget to tell your family and friends as well. They might have a different perspective.
