The husband clears cabinets after his wife dies – then finds a letter revealing her shattering secret
There is no way to describe the sadness that ensues when one partner dies after 50 years of marriage. “What should I do?” Is a question that certainly many elderly find themselves asking.
After his wife died after 50 years of marriage, 80-year-old Tony Tripani was left with an overwhelming sense of emptiness. After his wife’s death, he found himself devastated and alone.
After his wife’s death, Tony discovered a hidden letter that would reveal a secret that would change everything.
He found a letter his wife had hidden in a drawer for 55 years that led him to discover he had a 61-year-old son he had never met.
Tony Trapani, 81, had received a letter from an ex-lover in 1959 – but his wife, who could not have children, had hidden it from him.
Trapani found the item while cleaning out a filing cabinet after his wife died – and immediately tracked down his son, Samuel Childress, 61.
Childdress said he had always believed that his father was not interested in him.
‘I have a little boy,’ the letter said. He is now five years old. Tony, what I’m trying to say is that he’s your son. He was born on November 13th, 1953.
Trapani told Fox17, “I don’t know why my wife didn’t tell me.”. The couple wanted children. But she couldn’t have any. They tried and tried.”
I’ve had him all my life, but I don’t understand why my wife hid the letter,” he said.
When the s.h.o.c.k had subsided, Tony’s life had new meaning: he would try to find his son.
Tony found his son on Facebook after searching for a long time. Metro reports that the reunion was understandably emotional — especially since the son believed his father had been uninterested in him all those years!
Life can offer us incredible twists and turns when we least expect them! The 81-year-old’s life suddenly took on new meaning – please share if you were also touched by his story.
