The staff of the Barreirinha bus station in Curitiba, Brazil, who provided shelter, food, and water to these dogs two years ago, have not forgotten them. Even a couple of stray dogs were given a bed made from an old tyre and a blanket.
Many people were fascinated by Fabiane Rosa’s amazing act of kindness, including a local politician and animal lover:
“Congratulations to the terminal staff. Everyone understands that these angels have a right to be there. There are so many companies in Curitiba that could adopt a pet if they followed this example. Obviously, it is not ideal, but at least there are those who are watching over them.”
She urged people to report animal cruelty and to save these silent, suffering angels. She added that these animals live a dignified life, but are victims of abuse and neglect hidden behind walls. Many people praised the bus station staff’s heartwarming gesture in her Facebook post. The example of adopting pets has been followed by many companies in Curitiba. Although it may not be ideal, at least someone cares.
We are doing our best to reduce the number of dogs on the road. Due to a lack of space and funds for shelters, stray dogs are a growing problem, increasing the risk of infection and disease.
The neutering of pets is another way to reduce the number of stray dogs. Care is a practice in which you provide a stray with a warm home in a shelter and try to find him a family to take care of him. If you are not able to place a dog in a shelter, you should consider taking care of it instead.
