Granddaughter Asks All Four Grandmothers To Stand In As Flower Girls For Her Wedding

It is extra special to have grandparents at your wedding. Many brides and grooms don’t get the chance to include their extended family on their big day. Luckily, Tanner and Lyndsey were lucky enough to have all four of their grandmothers not only present, but also participating in the ceremony.

Tanner and Lyndsey planned to marry in September for their 2019 wedding. Their grandparents wanted to be part of this momentous day, but not just as another face in the crowd. It was rare for them to see grandparents at weddings, even though they had attended many before. It would be different for their wedding. Especially since all four of their paternal and maternal grandparents were still alive.

In looking through bridal ideas, the bride saw how another couple had included the bride’s grandparents. Lyndsey found it to be the perfect inspiration. She then asked all four ladies if they would like to be flower girls in her bridal party. Obviously, they were stunned. Usually, this task is assigned to the smallest cousins and youngest family members, who are wrangled into shyly, haphazardly walking down the aisle while basically spilling flowers. This is a bit of a mess, but it is also a tradition. Would Grandma be able to fill those tiny shoes? There was an immediate yes from all four.

It perfectly captures both generations’ joy and love for one another, especially on such a special occasion. A wedding photographer, Natalie Caho, captured the special moment when the ladies walked down the aisle in matching powder blue dresses and matching white handbags.

Her caption on social media read, “I’ve seen a lot of cute flower girls in my day… but these four gals take the cake.” The lineup included seventy-year-old paternal grandmother Joyce, seventy-two-year-old maternal grandmother Betty, seventy-six-year-old paternal grandmother Wanda, and ninety-year-old maternal great-grandmother Kathleen.

The five women immediately captivated the internet. As they headed down the aisle in style, viewers watched as they tossed their flowers gleefully. The bride and groom, along with their families, were delighted with their performance. It was clear that incorporating the women was the right decision. All in attendance will remember this moment for a very long time, there is no doubt.

The internet in particular. Everyone shared Caho’s photos of the youthful, glowing flower girls, which quickly went viral. In her album, each grandmother is pictured with the bride, linking arms and looking adoringly at her family members.

After the story went viral, Caho posted an update, writing, “Today my inbox was flooded with press I never dreamed of contacting, but they caught wind of the cuteness of @lyndseygrantraby’s wedding with FOUR grandmothers as flower girls.” She told brides-to-be to take risks with their weddings.

When she wrote, “If you’re on the fence about having something outside the ordinary at your wedding just do it! Especially if it means something as sweet as this did to you and your family.” Clearly, Lyndsay and Tanner followed her advice.
