Young Girl Gifts Clothes And Shoes To Bullied Classmate: ‘I Was Trying So Hard Not To Cry’

When people notice others in need of assistance and don’t have to worry about making the right decision, they commit selfless acts. It just comes naturally to them. She knew she had to intervene when one of her classmates was being bullied. Most certainly, she made an incalculable difference in the lives of her peers.

Haley Olson attends Atkinson Middle School in Phoenix. Haley’s family, which includes six additional siblings, does not always have the money to buy the latest fashions. Because of this, Haley is an outcast among her peers, who tease her about her clothing.

As a result of the bullying, Haley told her parents that she wanted to be homeschooled to avoid the bullies. Haley’s mistreatment, on the other hand, was not going unnoticed. Haley’s classmate Mariah Andrew took action to bring love and compassion into her life.

After learning Haley’s size, Mariah put together a variety of clothes and shoes for her as well as a backpack. Haley was moved and delighted at the same time. Mariah’s sensitivity was unlike anything she had witnessed before.

Stories like this remind us there is still a lot of compassion and kindness in the world, especially among children. By offering compassion to others who have been abused, even as adults, we may all learn from Mariah’s example. When you’re a hero, it’s not about saving the world. It’s about standing up to wrongdoing and trying to make someone’s life better.

It has long been accepted that children bully each other. People think it’s just a part of growing up, but that doesn’t mean it’s OK. If we teach children to be nasty, they will find it hard to break free from that worldview. We need to hold everyone to a higher standard. Mariah and Haley demonstrate that kindness has just as much impact as hatred. By treating others well, we show how much better the world can be. You can never have a bad excuse for doing anything kind.
