Baby elephant came to rescue her favorite human who she thought was drowning in a river

If you love someone, you will do everything in your power to keep them safe. This is exactly what happened when Kham La tried to save her human best friend in the elephant sanctuary.

This video appeared on the ‘elephantnews’ YouTube channel in 2016, but it continues to touch the hearts of viewers. Kham La, one of the sanctuary’s youngest residents, came to the rescue of a man she thought was drowning.

He was Darrick Thomson, co-founder of the Save Elephant Foundation in Chiang Mai, Thailand, who had formed a close bond with the elephant. In the video, you can see the Elephant Nature Park, which is operated by the foundation.

Darrick can be seen swimming in the river while a herd of elephants strolls by. He called out to his friend Kham La when he saw her by the shore. As a result, the elephant raced towards him and offered her trunk as a sign of distress.

Kham La thought he was being washed away by the current and sheltered him with her body. One of the sweetest animal-human interactions you will ever see is when the elephant rescues Darrick!

A Twitter user named Ben Goldsmith shared the video on the social media platform and made a poignant comment.

“This young elephant rushes across the river to save a man he thinks is drowning, so tenderly. It is such a blessing to share this world with such creatures. We are so unlucky to share it with them,” he wrote. It couldn’t be said better.

The thread was filled with comments from people who were touched by the elephant’s actions.

The fact that animals often show more compassion and love for humanity than humans is sad. Think about that!!! wrote King Gargantuas.

“Animals are far more compassionate and understanding than humans. Marla Tauscher said, “They have a complex range of emotions, but some of them don’t have the negative ones we do, like judgment, self-pity, hatred, etc.”

Since October 13, 2016, the elephant sanctuary’s viral video has garnered over 16 million views on YouTube.

This isn’t the first time the sanctuary has captured Kham La’s affection for Darrick. The man simply has to call her name for her to drop everything and run to greet him in this footage. As Kham La leads Darrick around the park, she can be seen holding hands with him.

Darrick receives special treatment from this baby elephant for a good reason. Kham La and her mother, Bai Teoy, were among 19 elephants rescued from tourism in 2015.

The then 4-year-old elephant had endured cruel training referred to as “crushing” under her captor’s hands before being saved.

Since Darrick understood how traumatized she must have been, he did everything he could to help her forget the pain and trust humans again.

The staff said that after he rescued Kham La, he spent time healing her and showing her love.

Not long after that, she formed a strong bond with him, and accepted him into her herd.”

Many elephants have been rescued by the sanctuary, most of whom are old and physically compromised. Staff members allow them to roam freely and form bonds with each other.

The mission of the organization is simple but beautiful: “We believe that if we treat animals with love, they will return the love.”

There is nothing more majestic than these majestic animals, and they don’t deserve to suffer from human cruelty. Donate to Save Elephant Foundation to help care for Kham La and other mistreated elephants
